China and Internet Censorship

The internet has placed China in a dilemma. On one hand, China wants to present to the international community as a progressive nation, in all aspects. That was demonstrated by the extent that China focused on the Beijing Olympics. The drawback to technology is that the Chinese government authorities lose control of the dissemination of information.

Protecting Those Who Serve

It may be a sign of the time - and how dangerous it is ‘on the streets’. A Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina is equipping dogs in the canine unit with protection:

“…Sheriff Bill Schatzman said Wednesday his office has received bulletproof, stab-proof vests for eight of the department’s 10 dogs. Schatzman said the dogs detect explosives, drugs and firearms and help catch criminals, and are in harm’s way.”

The costs of the vests are under a thousand dollars. It would be a worthwhile fund raising project -to protect some dogs that serve the community.
