The Bailout Plan Includes Unlimited Power

The financial crisis is dire and involves an enormous amount of money. Mr Henry Paulson has asked for unprecedented power in the Bailout Plan:

“… Sec. 8. Review.

Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.”

This removes any of the standard checks and balances that safeguards a democracy. In this plan, the tax payers would fund the economic rescue and surrender all authority to someone for whom no electoral vote was cast. Does Congress want to yield such unlimited power to a non-elected government official?
