Papelbon and the World Series Ball

The ball used for the final out in the World Series must be valuable. According to Jonathan Papelbon, his dog ate it:

“BOSTON - The World Series ball is gone, and Jonathan Papelbon has an excuse: My dog ate it.

Farfetched or not, that’s what the Red Sox closer insists happened to the souvenir from the final out of Boston’s sweep this year.”

Perhaps in lieu of a baseball in the Hall of Fame, there might be shreds of the remains and a picture of Ross, Jonathan Papelbon’s bulldog. It may be a wild guess but it is unlikely that there are any other canines in the baseball hall of fame.
