Airport Tax

There is a surprise at some airports. It is an airport tax that is collected before leaving and upon arriving. The tax is supposedly for improvements. However, this catches most travelers without any prior notice.

This seems somewhat unfair. The traveler is in a rush to either board the flight or gather the checked luggage. There is a time pressure and really not a suitable moment to question this tax. Most people will pay the fee and be done with it. Generally, it is about ten / twenty dollars. Nevertheless, it really seems opportunistic and an unpleasant surprise to most travelers.
