The district’s education board will consider Cortines’ request to send layoff notices at its meeting Jan. 13. The layoffs could begin in March.”

The layoffs may resolve the immediate budget deficit. However, there are long term consequences. The quality of the education will be felt immediately and in the long term. Sir Claus Moser’s quote on education applies: “Education costs money, but then so does ignorance.”.
