In the widely reported bicycle incident in New York, the bicyclist (Christopher Long) faces three charges:

  • attempted assault
  • resisting arrest
  • disorderly conduct

Thousands have watched the video since it was posted on YouTube. The reaction is similar to Greg Sandoval’s interpretation of events:

“…I’ve watched that video a dozen times and it’s hard to see any evidence that Pogan said a word before driving his shoulder into the bicyclist. He certainly makes no hand gestures for the rider to stop.”

The charges and the video are incongruent. How is it attempted assault when it is the police officer rushing at the bicyclist?

Wow, to me that is blatent. It’s almost like a school yard incident between a kid and a bully.
