A Free Typing Game

After suggesting a free online typing course, a group of gamers here decided to learn how to type (really type) before going back to school. All have improved but two people had a difficult time not looking at the keyboard. Although their hand position and keying are correct, they have had this longstanding habit of looking at the keyboard. This was a habit long before taking Peter’s Online Typing Course.

It was a very difficult habit for these two people to break. One half seriously said that his fingers worked better when he was looking at them. To break them of this keyboard watching habit, which was becoming less and less necessary because their skills were improving, we looked for a typing game that kept their attention on the monitor. We found this game and have been using it:

It is a free game and it has different levels. The competitive nature of this game keeps their attention. Further incentive is provided in the game - they can shoot the words and blow up things. That has definite appeal for people who are into games. You might say that things are “looking up”… and their typing speed is improving significantly.
